Are these real books?
Completely. Every Five Tales Press book is a real hardcover — printed, bound, and shipped one at a time, just for your order. The jacket may be a joke; the book is not.
What's a punchline book?
From the shelf it looks like an earnest bestseller — respectable jacket, glowing subtitle, an author who sounds credentialed. Page one delivers the punchline. The remaining 200 lined pages are a journal for whatever the recipient does with the advice.
What can I personalize?
It depends on the book. Punchline books let you pick the punchline (or write your own, where offered) and add a dedication page in your own words. Journals with customizable interiors let you choose the page style — ruled, dot, grid, music staves, and more — along with spacing, headers, and ink color. Linen editions add your own words foil-stamped down the spine. Whatever you choose is shown in the live preview before you buy.
What's the code printed in the back of my journal?
That's your presscode — a short code that records the exact interior recipe you built. Enter it on a product page later and we'll set up the same interior again, no re-fiddling required.
How long until it arrives?
Your book is printed and bound within about 3–5 business days of your order, then ships at the speed you choose at checkout. Most standard orders arrive within two weeks. Ordering for a hard date — birthday, wedding, retirement party? Give yourself the full window or pick a faster speed. Details in our shipping policy.
Where do you ship?
The United States and Canada. Canadian orders may be subject to import duties or customs processing on delivery.
How do I track my order?
You'll get a shipping confirmation email as soon as your book leaves the printer, with tracking whenever the carrier provides it. Standard shipping may have limited tracking; Priority Mail and faster always include it.
I made a typo in my personalization. Help?
Email support@fivetalespress.com with your order number right away. If your book hasn't gone to press yet, we'll fix it. Once it's printing, we can't — personalization is printed exactly as entered, so give the preview a second read before checkout.
Can I return my book?
Because each book is made to order — usually with your own words on it — we can't accept returns or exchanges. But we stand behind the printing: if your book arrives damaged or defective, tell us within 30 days and we'll reprint and reship it free. Keep the original; no need to ship anything back.
