Every Five Tales Press journal is printed and bound just for its recipient — one copy at a time, cased in cloth, stamped in foil.
We believe a journal should outlast its wrapping, its occasion, and at least a few of its opinions. So we make every one to be kept.
Bound to be kept.
Why “Five Tales”
The name is a play on words: five furry tails we’ve been lucky enough to share our homes with. Two cats, two dogs, and one wee puppy. While not every tail is still wagging with us, their tales keep them near.
No electricity required. Scratch, scrawl, sketch, paint, or wax poetic. It’s up to you from here.
The next volume
On the last page of every journal (the colophon) you’ll find its presscode — it encodes exactly how that journal’s interior was made: ruling, spacing, weights, colors, all of it. When the pages fill up, use the presscode to order another journal built just the way you like to create.
The bindery
Five Tales Press is a small press in East Lansing, Michigan. We design personalized books here and have each one printed and shipped to order by our production partner — one book at a time, meant to be kept. Get in touch.
